ON and RUNNING!!!

HELLO VOLLEYBALL FANS and Empire Volleyball Club followers!!!

Sorry this has taken so long, but we have been working hard to make sure this CLUB get off the ground correctly and ON THE RUN immediately!!!

As of today, November21, 2011 we have NINE (9) registered members in the club. Those members are as follows;

These names are being submitted to the GEVA Offices with the team name PRIME. That is right we are the first, but not the last! We are EVC-PRIME. We will be registered "BB" for competitions sake, however, at Nationals (dependent on which level falls on the opening weekend) we may play UP to" A," if need be.

We are still hoping to add one more member to this team and MAYBE a couple of other teams to our ranks.

These nine men are starting off with a bang!!!

Friday night, club members Andy McLeavey & Patrick Dietz, joined forced to win 2 out 3 in a NY Urban Professionals Volleyball Match. The team started off sluggish but put it together by the end to take the overall match.

And this past Sunday...

Members Kevin Shalley and Dennis Park, won a VBLI tournament held at John Jay College. The two men were a bit worn from a night of partying, since Saturday was also Dennis's BIRTHDAY...way to give yourself a well earned present Dennis and Happy Belated BDAY!!!

Club Manager and VP, Lenny Kushnir, defeated teammates Patrick Dietz and Nick Fussili in a VBLI tournament.

Empire VC is already making a CHAMPIONSHIP name for itself, join the FUN!!!

Club President & Treasurer Patrick Dietz reprised his duties as Color Analyst for the CUNAY-Bronx Net telecast of the CUNY Athletics Women's Volleyball Championships, help at The City College of New York on November 8, 2011.

Additional to this Patrick Dietz participated in the NEW YORK GOLDEN APPLE TOURNAMENT, conducted at Queens College the weekend of November 12-13. This is a tournament held under the umbrella of the North American Gay Volleyball Association (NAGVA) each year in New York City. Since Patrick is 38 year young, he was eligible to play. Athletes are required to be a minimum of 35 years old to compete.

ON day one of the event, the team called NY-Insanity (after the famous Insanity workout tapes) lead by Troy Riddle and Merle Battle (Momma) finsished the day off with a stellar 7-1 record. This made them the top team in the "A" bracket pool, for day two's double elimination round.

Day two was a bit more challenging for Insanity. Team setter and co-captain Troy, was battling jumpers knee the whole weekend, Momma "battled" a severe cold and some tenderness in his hitting arm. Patrick Dietz, suffered a mild knee injury, when a player from another court ran into his leg during a match.

In the end NY-Insanity finished 3rd overall, but tops in the hearts of those who participated in the tournament.
